#423 - PSALM 1
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in he judgement, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 1
ADORE
I praise you for being a God who watches over those who desire to follow you. Thank you for seeing, leading, and protecting those whom you've convicted to live a life that is pleasing to you. I praise you for being a just God. A God will will not allow those who choose wickedness to prosper. I also praise and worship you for your promises! The promise to prosper those who delight themselves in and meditate on your Word is sweet and inspiring! Thank you for this promise of blessing!
ADMIT
I confess that I have not delighted in your Word like I could or should. Though my hunger and commitment to your Word increased in 2015, there were still several seasons throughout the year where the consistent reading and reflecting of the Scriptures was not my priority. There were seasons during the year where I was guided by my own knowledge and strength rather than your wisdom and power. There is too much at stake in my life and in the lives of others for me not to be more hungry for, dedicated to, and reliant on your Word. I repent for delighting in the things of this world more than in the things of your Word.
ASPIRE
May this be a year that I look back upon and can say with all honesty and sincerity that I was committed to delighting in and meditating on your Word like no other year. May this be a year that I read more Scripture, memorize more Scripture, and enjoy more Scripture. I pray that your Holy Spirit fills me with a desire for your Word that comes not from myself but from above! I look forward to 2016 being a year that my life is guided, encouraged, and inspired by your Word like never before!
