#100 - IN REGARDS TO OBEDIENCE
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. Genesis 22:3-4
Abraham obeyed.
Though what he was directed to do was hard…he obeyed.
Though what he was directed to do was illogical…he obeyed.
Though what he was directed to do was going to hurt…he obeyed.
And he obeyed…early the next morning.
He didn’t wait till he was ready.
He didn’t wait till he was prepared.
He didn’t wait till he was comfortable.
Abraham did what God told him to do…immediately.
Not the next year. Not the next month. Not the next week. Not even the next night.
Early the next morning, Abraham did what God had told him to do.
What an example.
This is the kind of heart that I desire.
I desire to be one who obeys…”early the next morning.”
When I am directed to serve my wife,
I desire to be the type of husband who serves her immediately.
When I am directed to help someone in need,
I desire to be the type of person who helps them immediately.
When I am prompted to forgive a friend,
I desire to be the type of friend who forgives immediately.
When I am prompted to create,
I desire to be the type of artist who creates immediately.
No hemming. No hawing. No considering. No waiting. No justifying. No delaying.
What God tells me to do – I must do…immediately.
What God tells you to do – you must do…immediately.
Your life is at stake.
Your future is in the balance.
Your fulfillment depends on it.
Your next assignment is awaiting you.
Together, let’s decide to be a generation who chooses to obey…immediately.
